When you’re in the mood to bake, here’s an easy recipe for homemade dog treats that your dogs will love!  Gido and Mochi are very picky when it comes to their treats and they absolutely love these! The recipe is called  Liver Brownies and it’s from The Healthy Dog Cookbook (you can get this recipe book at any book store, I got mine from Borders).

Liver Treats

Prep Time: 10 minutes           Bake Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

Ingredients:

1 lb. beef liver

3 tbsp. peanut butter

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 cup barley

1. Cook the barley according to the package instructions (which is basically cooking it like you would rice).

2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

3. Puree the liver in a food processor and mix in the peanut butter.

Puree liver.

4. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and barley.

Mix together flour and cooked barley.

5. Add the liver and peanut butter mixture.

6. Pour the mixture into a 9×9 inch pan and bake for 20 minutes.

I used a cookie sheet and made these brownies into bone-shaped treats.

7. Let cool and cut into small pieces. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Enjoy!
